#Pitchdis 2026 Update

Hey everyone! I just wanted to give a quick update on what’s been going on at #PitchDis headquarters in preparation for September.

I’ve spent a lot of time doing trial runs on the requesting apps and making some tweaks. After a lot of work and consideration, we still won’t be able to attach artwork/images to Picture Book and Graphic Novel pitches. The software used for requests can be very glitchy, and attaching images would throw things off quite a bit. I’d rather the pitching and requesting process work seamlessly for everyone than to risk it.

There are a few slight changes you will need to know about, whether you are pitching or requesting.

Changes for Authors:

  • You will not be able to use line breaks in your pitch. This is because, for some reason, line breaks mess with the apps we use and cause issues with the automated emails. You can still use emojis.

  • You will still be able to select a maximum of two genres; however, if you select “Other” and write in your genre, you will only be able to use that one. The reason for this is that getting too specific with genres actually makes it more difficult for agents and editors to search the pitches. In addition, if you select “Other”, you will have a 20 character limit.

  • While not a change, there will be strict enforcement on the number of category/age groups as well. You will only get one. Again, being too specific OR too broad is a detriment. If there is any confusion as to what your category/age group is, ask yourself what section of the bookstore you would find your book. Additionally, “Crossover” on its own is not a category/age group.

  • There will be a 25 character limit for “Other” in the Optional tags section as well.

Changes for Agents and Editors:

  • I had several agents ask if they could get a list of all the requests they made, and I am happy to report that we’ll be able to do that this year. After you check out, you will receive an automated email with your requests, including the pitch, title, genres, and author. Big thanks to Florence at #SmallPitch who is basically a genius and helped me set up that function 😊

  • Editors and agents will receive a confirmation email within 48 hours of registering for the event. This means that they will receive three emails total from us - the registration confirmation, the log in info, and a receipt of the pitches they requested.

That’s about all for now! Keep an eye out on BlueSky for #AskPitchDis sessions. And as always, you can email with any questions.
